The company "Albert Mathier & Sons" is located in the municipality Salquenen (Salgesch) in the Swiss canton Wallis, It was founded by Albert Mathier in 1928. Today, the family business of Amédée Mathier is managed by the third generation, other family members have other functions. The company's own vineyards cover 30 hectares with over 300,000 vines. You are with the red varieties Pinot Noir. Merlot. Syrah. St. Laurent. Cabernet Franc and Cornalin, as well as the white wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Petite Arvine ( Arvine ), Hermitage ( Marsanne ), Heida (Savagnin Blanc = Traminer ), Johannisberg ( Sylvaner ) and Muscat ( Muscat Blanc ) planted.

The wines are, depending on the type of wine, in steel tanks, wooden barrels, or amphora expanded. The extensive product range includes the lines Amphora (see wu), Rhoneblut (from Pinot Noir), Domaine de Ravoire (from special vineyards), Vinum Lignum (aged in barriques) and Valais specialties. Count to the latter Dole. Flétri and Strohwein (Sweet wines from dried grapes), as well as Oeil de perdrix (rosé wine). Some of the areas in the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park become certified according to the rules of Bio Suisse Organic viticulture operated. The wines from there are Forestier and Parkwein. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and brandies (Marc de Lie = yeast, Marc de Dôle = pomace, Tschatscha Eau de Lie d'Amphore = pomace) are also produced.

A specialty of the house are amphora wines (Natural Wine, Orange Wine ), which according to Georgian Role modeled on the traditional Kachetic procedure are made in clay jugs (Kvevris). Since 2009, Kvevris of various sizes have been working with 400 liters to 2,500 liters. 6 Kvevris are located in the Marani (Georgian wine cellar) in the vineyard, in 2014 a second Marani was completed inside the winery with 11 other Kvevris. The grapes come to the Kvevris immediately after harvest and ferment there for between seven and nine months. The turbidity slowly drops until the wine is clarified. Then the wine is transferred to other containers and becomes clear without filtration, The wine is only bottled after a two-year aging process. Amphore® is a registered trademark.
