2009 Ghemme DOCG "Signore di Bayard", Piedmont, Italy

Developed, somewhat smoky and nutty-woody scent of partially dried red and black berries, tar and tobacco with notes reminiscent of lovage and a little rubber. Ripe, partly dried-up red and black fruit with clear, roasted, chocolate and coffee-spicy oak, fine sandy, slightly astringent tannins, lots of alcohol, slightly viscous style, persistent, very powerful, some depth, very ripe fruit on the finish with plenty of roasted and chocolate to spicy wood.
