2004 Barolo DOCG Sorano, Piedmont, Italy

Fairly mature nose, dried floral and delicate leathery notes, slightly ethereal, red and a few black berries, peppery traces, herbs and mineral traces. Tart fruit on the palate, nutty and herbaceous aromas, peppery notes, earthy and mineral notes, hint of root vegetables, fairly prominent fine tannins, light acid bite, persistent, salty and spicy notes, slightly ethereal agin, prominent acid bite on a very good, firm, juicy finish. Significantly better than the first sample.

Editor note: Partly dried red berries and some plums on the nose, dried leaves, light spicy oak. Firm on the palate with restrained red fruit, tart spicy notes, noticeable acid bite, fairly prominent fine tannins, some spicy oak , not a lot of substance or depth, good finish.
