2005 Barolo DOCG Vigna dei Pola, Piedmont, Italy

Developed, tart, nutty and somewhat barrel-woody aroma with black and a little red berry flavours, a hint of tar and dried soup herbs. Clear, tart, quite firm fruit, present, fine sandy, ripe tannins, slightly smoky notes, dried soup herbs, pepper and mushrooms, a certain acid bite, good substance and persistence, salty minerality, iodine nuances, very good, quite firm, tart finish.

Editor note: Clean, firm nose, partly preserved and partly candied red berries, spicy dried flowers, delicate sweetish spicy notes and mineral traces. Very clear again on the palate, creamy, partly candied fruit, fine, predominantly mature tannins, light spicy oak, persistent and full-bodied, has some depth, firm and very harmonious, very good long finish.
