2006 Langhe DOC Viognier Montalupa, Piedmont, Italy

Compact, fairly complex nose, dried citrus zest, orange, pomaceous fruit, tart apples and herbs. Fairly mature on the palate,delicately bitter notes of coffee, herbaceous notes in the background, well integrated oak, spicy, full-bodied fruit, preserved pomaceous fruit, melon and bitter cucumbers, mineral traces, integrated acidity, has substance and shows its origin, noticeable alcohol, but not clumsy, tart dried herbs on a slightly bitter finish. Keeps on improving.

Editor note: Fairly shy nose, bot also quite complex, elegant spice, partly dried pomaceous and stone fruit, elegant herbs and spices, tart mineral and delicate yeasty notes. Clear, elegantly juicy fruit on the palate, totally dry, full-bodied and slightly creamy, elegant acidity, cool mineral and delicate yeasty notes, noticeable alcohol, persistent with good substance, quite spicy on a good to very good finish.

Editor note: Complex nose, not too intense, yellow fruit and delicate herbaceous notes, dried stone fruit, undergrwoth, Full-bodied on the palate, cool style, persistent, very polished preserved pomaceous fruit, some dried yellow plums, floral notes in the background, mineral traces, elegant herbaceous notes, integrated oak, moderate acidity, slightly sharp alcohol, has some depth and substance, good long finish. Needs time to develop.
