The winery is located in the north of the municipality Montalcino (Province of Siena) in the Italian region Tuscany, It was founded in 1957 by Giuseppe Cencioni, who was also a founding member of Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. Today the company is run by the Patrizio Cencioni. The estate is around 200 years old, the two farm buildings were built in 1970 and 2006. The vineyards cover 19 hectares of vineyards with the red varieties Sangiovese and Merlot, as well as with the Pinot Grigio white wines ( Pinot gris ) and Moscadello ( Muscat Blanc ) are planted. The harvest is carried out by selective hand picking.

The product range includes the DOC wines Rosso di Montalcino. Moscadello di Montalcino and Sant'Antimo, the DOCG wine Brunello di Montalcino and some IGT wines. The Brunello di Montalcino is fermented in 100 hectolitre vats made of Slavonian oak. The red wine then matures for 30 months in 25 hectolitre barrels and after bottling another six months in the bottle. Around 55,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Half of them are exported to 36 countries worldwide, including the USA, Canada and Japan.
