The winery is located in the north of the municipality Montalcino (Province of Siena) in the Italian region Tuscany, It was founded in 1957 by Giuseppe Cencioni, who was also a founding member of Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. Today, the operation is managed by the Patrizio Cencioni. The estate is around 200 years old, the two farm buildings were built in 1970 and 2006. The vineyards cover 19 hectares of vineyards, with the red wines Sangiovese and Merlot, as well as the white varieties Pinot Grigio ( Pinot Gris ) and Moscadello ( Muscat Blanc ) are planted. The harvest is done by selective hand picking.
The product range includes the DOC wines Rosso di Montalcino. Moscadello di Montalcino and Sant'Antimo, the DOCG wine Brunello di Montalcino and some IGT wines. The fermentation of the Brunello di Montalcino takes place in 100 hectolitre vats of Slavonian oak. After that, the red wine matures for 30 months in 25 hectolitre barrels and after the bottling another six months in the bottle. Every year around 55,000 bottles of wine are produced. Half of it is exported to 36 countries worldwide, including the USA, Canada and Japan.
