2000 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Tuscany, Italy

Blueberries and preserved red berries on the nose, plums, sweetish tobacco, herbaceous and mineral notes, roasted notes and coffee. Firm and juicy on the palate, ripe berry fruit with notes of preserved plums and cherries, some more herbs and spices, roasted oak, elegant acidity with a light bite, partly astringent tannins, very good persistence and depth, but the oak limits the wine'sp otential, full-bodied and creamy, still fairly young, long finish. Has developed better than was expected, and could still improve with further bottle maturation.

Editor note: Mature nose dominated by vegetal and floral as well as some balsamic notes, light berry notes in the background. Very elegant on the palate, polished and harmonious, medium body, concentrated, well-structured berry fruit, dried tomatoes and some plums, well-integrated oak shows some elegant, sweetish capuccino notes, slightly prominent but polished and appropriate tannins, some coffee on a good finish.
