2001 Barbaresco DOCG Bric Balin, Piedmont, Italy

Mature, oxidative nose, mixed berries, soup greens, some leaves and wilted flowers, touch of varnish. Mature, tart, slightly oxidative fruit on the palate, dried vegetal notes and some tobacco, earthy, undergrowth and some leafy notes, restrained fruit, noticeable alcohol, light acid bite, very prominent, slightly brittle oak tannins, some sugar candy, slightly juicy on a slightly oxidative finish.

Editor note: Mature, quite complex nose with sweetish spicy oak, aromas of ripe, partly dried red fruit, some licorice and floral notes. Ripe fruit and more prominent dried floral notes, quite dusty and astringent tannins with good presence, quite persistent on the palate, medium depth, attractive to good finish.
