2003 Colli Tortonesi DOC Suciaja, Piedmont, Italy

Black berries and some red berries on the nose, plums, wilted flowers, light smoky notes and spicy oak. Firm and quite juicy on the palate, prominent spicy oak, fairly prominent, somewhat rough and astringent tannins, smoky and roasted notes, very creamy, noticeable alcohol, very ripe fruit, good persistence, good finish. Would be even better with less prominent oak.
