DOC area for a wide range of red, rosé and white wines in the Italian region Piedmont, The zone encompasses around 1,500 hectares of vineyards in the Tortona hill area in almost 50 municipalities on the lower Apennine foothills southeast of the eponymous municipality Tortona in the province of Alessandria. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, you can use the bottle label Vigna followed by the location name. There are the two subzones Monleale and Terre di Libarna, the names of which can be given on the bottle label according to Colli Tortonesi for certain types of wine.

The white grape variety comes from Italy, Synonyms are Bianca Fernanda, Corteis, Cortese Bianca, Cortese Bianco, Cortese d'Asti, Cortese dell'Astigliano, Courteis, Courteisa, Courtesia, Fernanda Bianca and Raverusto. The parentage is unknown. The early ripening, productive vine produces acidic, fruity wines with citrus flavors. It is also called table grape used. The variety was first mentioned in 1614 in an inventory of Castel Monferrato in the Piedmontese province of Alessandria.
