2006 Barbera d'Alba DOC Superiore Donna Elena, Piedmont, Italy

Prominent roasted notes and spicy oak on the nose, partly overripe red berries and cherries, dried herbs and spices. Full-bodied on the palate, more overripe, slightly tired fruit, spicy notes and herbaceous traces, spicy oak, sandy, slightly astringent tannins, prominent alcohol, not particularly deep, quite brittle on the finish.
