2017 Barbera d'Asti DOCG Superiore "Assolo", Piedmont, Italy

Rather astringent scent of partly preserved, mainly black berries, a little cherry and hinted plum with tobacco and peppery nuances, some liquorice, herbs and juniper. Ripe, partly dried and preserved, juicy fruit with spicy and dried herbal aromas, somewhat ethereal on the palate, roasted and nutty wood notes, a lot of alcohol, good substance and persistence, plenty of power, fine sandy tannin, some bite, spicy tones, very good, quite dense, again massive and alcoholic finish. For fans of this extremely powerful style
