2001 Toscana IGT "Cavaliere", Tuscany, Italy

Red and black berries on the nose, cocktail cherries, dried herbs, quite prominent smoky and roasted as well as light animal notes. Oak dominates the palate, too, smoky and roasted notes, noticeable alcohol, astringent oak tannins, fruit rather hidden, cocoa on the palate, not particularly deep, alcoholic finish. Already past its prime.
