2003 Gioia del Colle DOC Primitivo Riserva Fatalone, Apulia, Italy

Fairly mature nose, preserved cherries, mixed berries and plums, herbaceous notes, some smoky, spicy oak. Prominent toasted oak on the palate, extremely astringent tannins, fruit is pushed into the background, noticeable alcohol, not a lot of real depth, alcohol and oak dominate the finish.
