2014 Hohen-Sülzen Kirchenstück Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Tart, polished, slightly tobacco and moderately wood-spicy, a touch burnt aroma of more dark than red berries and a little cherry with dried floral and mineral notes, some fennel and caraway. Clear, again very polished, tart-juicy fruit, rather cool, tobacco, very slightly bitterish-woody, ashy and slightly smoky, fine sandy tannins, delicate acid bite, persistent and quite firm on the palate, tart spicy nuances in the background, a touch of pepper and tobacco, elegant style, very good, tart-juicy finish. Skilful.
