2017 Hohen-Sülzen Kirchenstück Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Tart, nutty, earthy and tobacco woody aroma of red and a little black berries with peppery notes, a hint of tar and liquorice as well as mineral hints in the background. Ripe, partly dried-looking, with air increasingly juicy fruit with coffee- and cocoa-spicy wood notes, some cardamom and pepper on the palate, warming alcohol, but also cooling mineral tones, good persistence, some depth, very slightly oniony in the background, smoky nuances, very good, tight, tart-juicy finish with draught.
