2008 Barbaresco DOCG Riserva Roncaglie, Piedmont, Italy

Clear, tart, slightly dried-vegetable scent reminiscent of foliage, partly dried red and a little black berries with ethereal peppery spiciness, iodine and a hint of tar and blood. Quite firm, developed, tart, relatively dark fruit, some foliage, tar and nutshells, a touch of tar, ethereal notes again, salt in the background, fine, tight tannin, persistent, good depth, very good finish with ripe, tart juice and spice. Has developed very much to its advantage.
