Editor note: First signs of maturity on the nose, predominantly black berries and partly preserved cherries, delicate smoky oak, peppery and earthy notes. Tart, juicy, predominantly dark fruit on the palate, light bite, fairly prominent fine, sandy, slightly astringent tannins, smoky notes and some ashes, tart nutty oak, some substance and persistence, dark spicy traces, citrus notes in the background, light bite, good to very good finish.
Best to drink: To 2021+

In 905 King Sancho I founded his own Kingdom of Navarre (Basque Nafarroa) with the capital Pamplona. In its heyday under Sancho III. (990-1035) it stretched from Barcelona to Bordeaux on both sides of the Pyrenees. The first residents were Basques whose influences can still be felt today. The Count of Champagne Thibaut I inherited the kingdom in 1234, after which it was administered by several French rulers.
