Special viticulture area (formerly Finca la Solana = sunny place) in the municipality of Malagón in the province of Ciudad Real in the Spanish region La Mancha
(Castile-La Mancha). It was named the highest Spanish wine quality level in 2009 Vino de Pago
classified. The vineyards cover 58 hectares of vineyards on mineral-rich clay and granite soils. Cencibel is the only grape variety ( Tempranillo
) grown. The area is fully owned by Bodegas y Viñedos La Solana (Florentino Arzuaga). The total property covers 150 hectares, where olive cultivation is also carried out.
