Editor note: Light peppery spice on the nose, light meaty notes and a hint of iodine, predominantly black berries, leatheryand earthy notes, some dried herbs and black olives. Ripe, partly preserved fruit on the palate, some chocolate, hint of tobacco and iodine, light herbaceous and earthy notes, sweetish and creamy, but also has a slight bitter touch, good substance and persistence, noticeable warm alcohol, slightly dusty tannins, good to very good finish.

Editor note: Light spicy notes on the nose, hint of tobacco, partly preserved mixed berries and cherries, floral and light animal notes, some soup greens, earthy traces. Ripe, slightly jammy fruit on the palate, floral and spicy aromas, touch of cocoa and candied nuts, fairly fine tannins, good persistence, full body, noticeable warm alcohol, sweetish and creamy, hint of licorice and some orange zests, good to very good finish

DOCG area for red wine in the Italian region Campania, The zone was classified as DOC in 1970 and DOCG in 1993. The zone completely includes the municipalities of Bonito, Castelfranci, Castelvetere sul Calore, Fontanarosa, Lapio, Luogosano, Mirabella Eclano, Montefalcione, Montemarano, Montemiletto, Paternopoli, Pietradefusi, Sant'Angelo all'Esca, San Mango sul Calore, Taurasi, Torre le Nocelle and Venticano. The vineyards cover 420 hectares of vineyards northeast of Avellino on volcanic mountain slopes in 17 municipalities. The best locations are Castelfranci, Jampenne, Radici and Torre, all of which are around 400 meters above sea level.
