The winery is located in Mazzon (municipality of Neumarkt/Egna) in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol (Trentino-South Tyrol). It has been owned by the family Johanna and Kurt Rottensteiner since 1987. In 2011 a vineyard with 1921 planted Lagrein vines was acquired. The vineyards cover seven hectares, 80% of which are planted with the red varieties Pinot Noir (4 hectares) and Lagrein, and 20% with the white varieties Gewürztraminer and Manzoni Bianco. Since 2011, the organic cultivation has been carried out according to the rules of the Bioland association. The use of mineral fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides is avoided. Copper and sulphur are mainly used against fungal diseases, the grape berry moth is controlled by means of a confusing method.

The fermentation of the wines takes place spontaneously with the help of the vineyard's own yeasts. The Gewürztraminer ferments two thirds in steel tanks and two thirds in new 500-litre oak barrels. After fermentation of the Pinot Noir mash in 25-hectolitre barrels and biological acid reduction, the red wines are aged for 12 months in barriques, then a few months in steel tanks and after bottling for up to eight months in the bottle before being marketed. The range of products includes several in bottle. The product range includes various South Tyrolean DOC wines as well as IGT wines. The winery is a member of the Association of Free Winegrowers South Tyrol.
