2012 Barbaresco DOCG Gallina, Piedmont, Italy

Fairly deep, tobacco-like, slightly old oak, predominantly red berries, leathery and dried-floral notes, hint of liquorice and a hint of citrus zest. Ripe, juicy and concentrated, partly canned red fruit with peppery-spicy aromas, some cocoa and nutty-woody notes, fine-sandy tannins, has power and a certain warmth, a hint of herbs, in the background salt and earthy notes, a hint of mint, something Sugar candy, persistent, complex and deep, very good to long, juicy and fine spicy finish with salty and beguiling red berry notes. Should still mature a little.
