The winery "Bodegas Campillo" is located outside of Laguardia in the Spanish Rioja sub-area Rioja Alavesa
, It was founded in 1861 and has been part of the group since 1990 Faustino
, Campillo used to be a secondary brand of Faustino. Only for the Campillo wines, new barrels were used to "feed" them and - as they thought - to take them out of focus. However, this had the (not desired) effect that the second wine (Campillo) was often better than the first wine (Faustino). Now Campillo is considered as an independent brand and marketed. The vineyards cover 50 hectares of vineyards, which are mainly planted with Tempranillo, as well as Graciano, Viura, Malvasía and Cabernet Sauvignon. The product range includes Reserva Especial (60% Tempranillo, 40% others), Gran Reserva (100% Tempranillo), Reserva (75% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 15% others), Crianza (100% Tempranillo), Rosado (100% Tempranillo ) and Blanco (Viura, Malvasia). Around 20% of production goes into export.
