2012 Toscana IGT Campo Sughera, Tuscany, Italy

Firm nose, partly preserved black and red berries, a few cherries, minty herbaceous notes, eucalyptus, licorice, tobacco, dark spicy oak. Ripe, partly preserved firm, concentrated, very juicy dark fruit on the palate, lots of chocolate, some licorice, light peppery spice, eucalyptus, fine, sandy, initially slightly astringent tannins that become better integratedwith aeration, quite powerful, but with aeration also increasingly fresh, good persistence and depth, still largely undeveloped, hint of black olives in the background, almost overpowering style, very good, fairly juicy finish with concentrated, slightly jammy fruit as well as herbs and spices.
