2001 Toscana IGT "Ghiaie Della Furba", Tuscany, Italy

Prominent vegetal and animal notes on the nose, burnt toasted notes, black berries, some red berries and cherries. Markedly mature on the palate, dark, tart, malted fruit, more bitter burnt oaky notes, medium-bodied and has some substance, creamy and slightly persistent, fialry fine, slightly astringent tannins, noticeable alcohol, good finish. Better than it was five years ago, but the overripe notes and burnt oak still mean it lacks charm.
