2000 Barbaresco DOCG Vigna Magallo, Piedmont, Italy

Partly dried red berries and dried herbs on the nose, notes of smoked meat, light cedar wood. Oaky on the palate, with mature red berry fruit, some plums and herbaceous notes, very smoky, again with prominent smoked meat, dry dusty tannins, bitter notes, lacks depth, astringent, smoky finish. Definitely too strongly dominated by oak.
