2001 Barolo DOCG Bussia, Piedmont, Italy

Tart nose, some tobacco and undergrowth, partly preserved and partly dried red and some black berries, dried herbs, some wilted leaves, light mineral notes in the background. Full-bodied, fairly juicy fruit on the palate, mature and harmonious, tart smoky and slightly nutty oak in the background, fairly prominent and fairly fine tannins, slightly astringent, full-bodied, good substance, persistent and has some depth, touch of sugar candy, hint of cocoa, mineral notes in the background, has grip, slightly noticeable, but fairly well integrated alcohol, very light acid bite, slightly astringent with some coffee notes on a very good finish. Much better than the first tasting sample.
