The winery is located in the municipality of Gaiole in the center of the area Chianti Classico in the Italian region Tuscany, It was founded in 1972 by four families. The estate is managed by Lorenza Sebasti with the support of her husband Marco Pallanti. Since the end of 2006, the owner has been president of the Chianti Classico Conservation Society "Consorzio del Marchio Storico Chianti Classico" (see below) Gallo nero ). The total property covers 450 hectares at an average altitude of 450 meters between the municipalities of Gaiole and Radda. Of these, the vineyards make up 90 hectares and olive groves with 10,000 olive trees cover 40 hectares. By the 1972 to 1984 investigations on the best vineyards or plots led in the Chianti Classico for the first time to use the term Vigna, It was specifically searched for the most suitable area for each grape variety. In addition to the classic Sangiovese with several clones was experimented with the newly planted varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Nero and Merlot.

The credo of the winery is that every wine must be a faithful expression of its particular terroir. The premium products include, for example, the three Chianti Classico wines "Bellavista", "La Casuccia" (vineyard names) and "Castello di Ama", as well as the IGT's "Al Poggio" (Chardonnay) and "Vigna l'Apparita" (Merlot ). It will also be one Vin Santo produced by special vineyards whose vines produce the lowest yield of one to a maximum of two grapes. The sweet wine is blended from two-thirds Malvasia and one-third Trebbiano Toscano and aged six years in used barriques.
