2014 Barbaresco DOCG Gallina, Piedmont, Italy

Fairly mature nose, dried flowers and tobacco, some old oak, red and a few black berries, delicate peppery notes, hint of juniper and dried mushrooms, undergrowth. Clear, polished, ripe, fairly tart fruit on the palate, nutty notes and old oak, hint of tobacco, fairly prominent and fairly fine tannins, persistent, juniper in the background, soy sauce, earthy and mineral notes, hint of dried herbs, touch of pomegranate, some depth, becomes more astringent with aeration, smoky notes, partly preserved fruit and old oak on a very good firm finish.
