2011 Chianti Classico DOCG Il Picchio, Gran Selezione, Tuscany, Italy

Somewhat developed, slightly nutty and leathery aroma of ripe black berries and some plums with dark wood spice, a hint of smoke and tomato paste, cedary notes and tobacco. Firm, ripe black fruit with bitter chocolate and some smoky wood spice, present, fine sandy tannin, powerful and persistent on the palate, a little dark tobacco, some depth, liquorice and pepper in the background, ashy tones, very good, firm, tart, juicy and woody finish.

Dunkle, konzentrierte, herb-saftige, leicht kompottige und kandiert wirkende Frucht im Mund, viel dunkel-röstiges Holz und relativ präsentes Tannin, Kraft und sehr gute Nachhaltigkeit am Gaumen, etwas Schokolade und eine Spur Kaffee, erdige Noten, tabakige Anklänge, gute Tiefe, fester Bau, noch jung, im Abgang erst ein wenig spröde, mit Luft dann lang, dicht, saftig und würzig, wenn auch das Holz weiterhin etwas trocknend bleibt. Muss reifen.
