DO area in the spanish region Catalonia, The former Tarragona sub-region "Falset" was highly classified in 2001 under the new name Montsant. It encloses the DOCa area like a belt Priorato, These two areas are among the oldest and already in the Middle Ages the most important wine regions of Catalonia. The vineyards cover over 2,000 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of the eponymous mountain Massif Montsant in 200 to 700 meters above sea level in 17 municipalities.
