The "Celler Vall-Llach" winery is located in the municipality of Gratallops in the Spanish DOCa area Priorato
(Catalonia). It was founded in 1996 by the local songwriter Luis Llach and the notary Enric Costa and bought the properties La Final (production, winery) and Cal Valdrich (wine expansion). The vineyards cover 38 hectares of vineyards, which are mainly planted with the Carineña and Garnacha Tinta varieties with 60- to 90-year-old vines. The international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are also cultivated. Grapes from the municipalities of Porrera and Torroja are also purchased. Management is carried out in a way that is close to nature, without using chemical agents if possible. The first year was 1998, which was marketed in late 2000. The wines are produced in three lines. These are "Vall-Llach" (60% Carineña, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) "Idus de Vall-Llach" (40% Carineña, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Garnatxa, 5% Syrah) and "Embruix de Vall-Llach" (30% Carineña, 30% Garnatxa, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah). The latter comes (unusually) from very young vineyards. The name "Embruix" (magic) is intended to indicate that the high quality appears like magic.
