The winery "Celler Vall-Llach" is located in the municipality of Gratallops in the Spanish DOCa area Priorato (Catalonia). It was founded in 1996 by the community-born songwriter Luis Llach and the notary Enric Costa and bought the estate La Final (production, winery) and Cal Valdrich (expansion of wines). The vineyards cover 38 hectares of vineyards, which are mainly planted with the varieties Carineña and Garnacha Tinta with 60- to 90-year-old vines. It also cultivates the international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Furthermore, grapes from the municipalities of Porrera and Torroja are also purchased. There is a close-to-nature management with as much as possible waiver of chemical agents. The first year was 1998, which was marketed in late 2000. The wines are produced in three lines. These are "Vall-Llach" (60% Carineña, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) "Idus de Vall-Llach" (40% Carineña, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Garnatxa, 5% Syrah) and "Embruix de Vall-Llach" (30% Carineña, 30% Garnatxa, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah). The latter comes (uncommonly) from very young vineyards. The term "Embruix" (magic) is supposed to say that the high quality appears like magic.
