2003 Beaujolais-Villages AOC, Beaujolais, France

Partly dried plums and red berries on the nose, delicate mineral notes and spicy oak. Elegant and juicy on the palate, quite firm, light spicy oak and some more mineral notes, quite fine but also relatively prominent tannins, very good persistence, has some bite, more full-bodied than the alcohol level would lead one to expect, very well balanced, good long finish. Has shown excellent development.

Editor note: Plum preserves, some red berries and vanilla on the nose, which is dominated by oak. Compact fruit, still rather closed, but has some substance, austere oak notes currently obscure the wine, dusty, slightly astringent tannins, attractive to good finish.
