Appellation (also Blanc-Fumé de Pouilly) for white wine on the upper course of the Loire southeast of Orléans in the Nièvre department in central France. You may not use the appellation Pouilly-Fuissé in the Burgundian area of Mâconnais. The vineyards here have monks of the Benedictine Order already laid out in the Middle Ages. The area covers over 1,000 hectares of vineyards in the seven municipalities of Garchy, Mesves-sur-Loire, Pouilly-sur-Loire, Saint-Andelain, Saint-Laurent-l'Abbaye, Saint-Martin-sur-Nohain and Tracy-sur-Loire (with associated part Boisgibault). A white wine from this area was one of them...

Synonymous with the grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon; look there.
