1986 Saint-Julien AOC Deuxième Cru Classé, Bordeaux, France

Firm, tart, still downright fresh aroma of black berries and black olives with fine herbaceous aromas, meaty tones, a hint of tobacco and pepper. Taut, polished, tangy fruit, very fine, yet firm tannin and some bite, persistent and dense, fine salty mineral tones and again a little pepper, again also black olives and a little dried herbs, elegant style, deep and firm, cherry and very slightly fleshy tones, some tobacco, again also a hint of pepper, very good to long, again taut and amazingly fresh, tangy-juicy finish with a hint of blood. In great condition

Editor note: Calm, deep, multi-layered scent of black and red berries with old-wood notes, almost a little peppery spice, hints of tobacco and cedar, black olives and quite clear minerality. Firm and at the same time smooth in the mouth, rather dark, ripe, juicy fruit, dried herbal, slightly nutty-woody spicy and also a hint of ethereal nose, a little cherry, a hint of cocoa and cedar, present, crumbly-sandy tannin, deep and lasting, clear minerality, very good, firm finish with some blood and iodine.
