The winery is located in the municipality Châteauneuf-du-Pape
in the appellation of the same name on the southern one Rhone
, It was first mentioned in 1763. At the beginning of the 19th century it was owned by Hercule Paul de Fortia d'Ijrban, after whom it is named. In 1919, the lawyer Baron Pierre Le Roy de acquired it Boiseaumarié
(1890-1967). In the 1920s, this defined the geographical limits of the later appellation and determined the idelaen grape varieties that are still valid today. He is considered the founder of the appeals system. Today the winery is run by his descendants. There is a maximum yield limit of 35 hl / ha for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vineyards cover 30 hectares. Of these, 27 hectares are planted with the red varieties Grenache Noir (70%), Syrah (25%), Mourvèdre and Counoise, and 3 hectares with the white varieties Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Clairette. The red wine is aged in barriques for 12 to 18 months.
