1986 Pessac-Leognan AOC Premier Cru Classé, Bordeaux, France

Deep, firm and concentrated, fine-tobacco, hints of chocolate, peppery and slightly dried-herbal scent of ripe black berries, some mint, juniper and a little smoke. Very firm, concentrated, tart fruit, juicy, grippy and tobacco, dense and persistent on the palate, ethereal-herbal nuances and pepper, taut, fine, yet still present tannin, certain acid bite, ethereal spice, a little cocoa, lots of salt, has power, grip, but also elegance, herbal nuances, a touch of juniper, long, taut, juicy, grippy and ethereal-spicy finish. In terrific condition.

Editor note: Firm, deep nose, tobacco, cedar wood, blackcurrants, also some dried red berries and plums, drief flowers and mineral notes. Concentrated and spicy on the palate, more cedar wood and tobacco, very ripe dark fruit, a touch of dark chocolate, fairly prominent, very fine tannins, strong mineral character, great depth and persistence, very firmly structured, gripping and complex, perfectly balanced, elegant in spite of its concentration, very long finish.
