1988 Pessac-Leognan AOC Premier Cru Classé, Bordeaux, France

Firm nose, prominent tobacco and cedar, blackcurrants with some red berries, mineral notes, some incense. Firm on the palate, red and black fruit, more prominent tobacco, full-bodied, fairly prominent, sandy, slightly astringent tannins, very slightly oxidised, noticeable alcohol, some licorice, good persistence, not particularly deep, slightly hot and astringent on a very good finish.

Best to drink: Bis 2014+. What our ratings mean
