The estate is located in the municipality of Trouillas in the French region Roussillon
, just ten kilometers away from the Mediterranean coast near the Spanish border. It was founded in 1967 by Jacques Montès. In 1987, he handed the management over to his son Etienne Montè, a former press photographer. Quality improvement measures were implemented in close cooperation with the oenologist Jean-Luc Colombo. The vineyards cover 70 hectares of vineyards on pebble and moraine debris soils, which are interspersed with quartz, gneiss and granite. Through intensive care of the vines, targeted low yields and selective harvesting with optimal ripeness, the basis for the wines is created. Long maceration is mandatory in order to achieve high color leaching. Under the AC Cotes du Roussillon
the "Cuvée du Commandant François Jaubert" (30% Carignan, 30% Syrah, 30% Grenache Noir, 10% Mourvèdre), the "Torrespeyres" (80% Syrah, 20% Carignan) and the "Pla del Rei" (100 % Syrah). Under the AC Rivesaltes
a red wine (Grenache Noir) and a white wine "Ambre" (Macabeo, Grenache Blanc) are produced. There is also the red vins de pays Cotes Catalanes
