2005 Chateauneuf-du-Pape AOC, Rhône, France

Tart vegetal nose with a hint of tobacco, slightly bitter nutty and earthy notes, floral traces, some tart yellow fruit in the background. Clear and dry on the palate, nutty and very creamy, restrained fruit, vegetal notes and some earthy notes, very elegant acidity, persistent, slightly astringent, has substance, partly still surprisingly fresh, partly already shows some development, probably in an interim phase rather than in decline, good to very good finish.

Editor note: Quite elegant, restrained aromas of citrus fruit, green berries, some grass and herbs on the nose, with cool mineral notes in the background, light touch of honeydew melon. Very clean, elegantly juicy fruit with lively, refreshing acidity, herbaceous notes and quite prominent mineral notes create a cool impression on the palate, good persistence and depth, very refreshing, appealing style, excellent balance, the inherent power is well discuised, good finish.
