2006 Madiran AOC, South-west France, France

Nutty aroma of ripe black berries with some dried herbs, tobacco, violets and tart spicy notes. Firm, juicy dark fruit, somewhat nutty and woody-spicy, peppery and slightly tobacco notes, dense and persistent, very present, fine sandy tannins, slightly earthy tones, good depth, has power, but also polish, fine acid bite and even elegance, still rather young-looking, salty mineral hints, delicate roasting, very good, firm finish with a lot of grip and tart dark juice. In first-class condition, much more convincing than in its youth.

Editor note: Nose still undeveloped, preserved black berries and cherries, coffee, tart chocolate, light sooty notes, roasted notes and spicy oak. Very concentrated and full-bodied on the palate, but also has cool notes, juicy black fruit, roasted and sooty oak, very polished with fairly prominent fine tannins, light acid bite, persistent, noticeable alcohol, still largely undeveloped, dark chocolate and some more sooty notes in the background, medium depth, good long finish.
