The appellation is located in the west of the French wine region Languedoc, It forms an enclave in the center of the AOC Minervois, The red wine was classified as AOC in 1999. It belongs to the highest quality category "Crus du Languedoc". The south-facing vineyards cover around 230 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 220 meters. They extend over the six municipalities of Azille (in the department Aude ), Azillanet, Cesseras, Félines-Minervois, the eponymous La Livinière and Siran (in the department Hérault ).
