2000 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva, Tuscany, Italy

Sweetish, slightly buttery nose with plums and preserved red berries, oak, some dark caramel and sugar candy, mineral notes, hint of lovage. Prominent oak on the palate, astringent and quite tart, fairly prominent, sandy tannins, restrained dried fruit, some more lovage as well as other soup greens, quite full-bodied, but also very rustic and astringent, mineral notes, tart, slightly brittle finish. Lacks any charm whatsoever.
