2004 Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Tuscany, Italy

Preserved and candied black berries and cherries on the nose, touch of red berries, some candied herbs, mineral traces, slightly smoky, spicy oak. Clear, juicy, partly candied fruit on the palate, light spicy oak, fairly fine, mature tannins, quite full-bodied and creamy, good persistence, smoky traces, good grip, fairly high alcohol on a good to very good finish. Still in excellent condition, tastes better than ever.

Editor note: Slightly unclean nose, sulphurous, old oak and berries, develops light smoky and mineral notes with aeration. Quite firm on the palate with clear light red berry fruit, quite firm backbone, moderate mineral and spicy notes, integrated tannins, shows breeding and character, attractive to good finish.
