The small dwarf republic (61 km²) is located in the northeastern central Italy between the two regions Emilia-Romagna and Brands, The vineyards cover 225 hectares of vineyards. Most winemakers deliver their grapes to the Consorzio Vini Tipici di San Marino. The wines are made from the Moscato Bianco ( Muscat Blanc ) with the greatest amount of sweet sparkling wine, Sangiovese. Trebbiano (?), Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco ( Pinot Blanc ) produced.

The red grape variety comes from Italy, There are more than 80 synonyms attesting to the age and wide distribution, especially in the country of origin. Some are Brunelletto, Brunello, Cacchiano, Calabrese, Cardisco, Cassano, Cordisio, Chiantino, Corinto Negro, Guarnacciola, Ingannacane, Lambrusco Mendoza, Liliano, Montepulciano Primaticcio, Morellino, Morellino di Scansano, Negrello, Nero, Nerello Campotu, Niella, Nielluccio, Primaticcio, Prugnolo Dolce, Prugnolo Gentile, Puttanella, Sangiogheto, Sangiovese dal Cannello Lungo, Sangiovese dal Cannello Lungo di Predappio, Sangiovese di Lamole, Sangiovese di Romagna, Sangiovese Dolce, Sangiovese Elba, Sangiovese Grosso,...

Often used, but not unique short name for the two red grape varieties Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, Although these are closely related (the parents of Cabernet Sauvignon are Cabernet Franc x Sauvignon Blanc), it is not always clear which one is meant. Especially in northern Italy, it is not conclusive for some DOC wines which variety or which composition is included. As a rule, Cabernet Sauvignon is meant more, especially because it is simply more common. Cabernet is but also a synonym for the grape variety Béquignol Noir,
