2001 Barolo DOCG Vigna Bricco Gattera, Piedmont, Italy

Aromas of overripe red berries and plums, initially with quite smoky notes and lots of lovage, becomes more harmonious and much more elegant with aeration. Initially somewhat overripe on the palate, lovage, quite crisp acidity, light notes of old oak, slightly oxidative style, then increasingly elegant red fruit with aeration, gains in complexity and depth, good finish.

Best to drink: Bis 2009+. What our ratings mean
