The estate is located in the Siatista municipality (Kozani prefecture) in the western part of the Greek region Macedonia
, It was founded in 2006 by Yiannis Boutaris (founder of the winery Kir Yianni
) and the couple Yiannis Polizos and Georgia Goutziamani. Yiannis Boutaris was elected Mayor of Thessaloniki in autumn 2010, so Yiannis and Georgia are now running the business alone. The name "Dio Fili" means "The Two Friends" in Greek. The first bottling took place in 2007. The white varieties Assyrtiko, Gewürztraminer and Moscato Bianco, as well as the red varieties Xynomavro, Moschomavro (Muscat Noir), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Pinot Noir are cultivated on the vineyards at 950 meters above sea level. The house specialty is sweet wines, some of which are stored in old wooden barrels for up to ten years. For example, these are one Liastos
and the "To Kellari tou Tapnou", which is blended from wines of several years according to the solera principle à la sherry.
