The family business of the Counts of Schönborn with head office in Wiesentheid in Franconia (Germany) includes not only viticulture but also the five business areas agriculture, forestry, sawmill, fish farming and gastronomy. Since the year 1998 the whole enterprise is led by Paul Graf von Schönborn. As early as 1349, vineyards in the Rheingau community of Winkel owned by the aristocratic family are recorded. Thus began the traditional wine-growing tradition of the Counts of Schönborn. The Schönborns were one of the first to fill their hand-picked wines since 1725 on hand-blown bottles. A 1735 "Johannisberger" from the treasury The domain is one of the earliest known bottling in Germany and still sets the benchmark for the most expensive wine Germany. The domain winery Schloss Schönborn is located in the municipality of Hattenheim in the German wine-growing region Rheingau, It is one of the oldest wineries in Germany. In 2015, significant investments were made in infrastructure, cellar technology and the winery buildings under new management. The construction is planned in 2017. The goal is the creation of a meeting place for wine lovers from all over the world. The vineyards cover 45 hectares of vineyards in 33 renowned Rheingau individual layers, which were acquired in the 17th and 18th centuries. Teresa Countess Alvares Pereira von Schönborn leads the family business Casa Cadaval in the fifth generation of families in Portugal near Lisbon. Farming, breeding purebred Lousitanos horses and viticulture are practiced here on 5,000 hectares of land. The vineyards cover 53 hectares of vineyards in the region Ribatejo which are 95% of the red varieties Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira Preta, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot planted. The yield is limited to 45 hl / ha.
