The family business of the Counts of Schönborn with headquarters in Wiesentheid in Franconia (Germany) comprises not only viticulture but also the five business areas of agriculture, forestry, sawmill, pond management and gastronomy. Paul Graf von Schönborn has been in charge of the entire business since 1998. The aristocratic family owned the vineyards in the Rheingau municipality of Winkel as early as 1349. This was the beginning of the traditional wine-growing tradition of the Counts of Schönborn. The Schönborns were one of the first to fill their hand-picked wines on mouth-blown bottles as early as 1725. The domain winery Schloss Schönborn is located in the municipality of Hattenheim in the German wine-growing region Rheingau, It is one of the oldest wineries in Germany. In 2015 considerable investments in the infrastructure, cellar technology and the buildings of the winery were started under new management. The end of construction is planned for 2017. The goal is to create a meeting place for wine lovers from all over the world. The vineyards cover 45 hectares of vines in 33 renowned Rheingau individual locations, which were acquired in the 17th and 18th centuries. The vineyards cover 30 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Kapellenberg and privately owned Schlosspark (Gaibach), as well as privately owned Schlossberg (Hallburg). Teresa Countess Alvares Pereira von Schönborn is the fifth generation of the family to run the Casa Cadaval family business in Portugal near Lisbon. Agriculture, the breeding of purebred Lousitanos horses and viticulture are practiced here on 5,000 hectares of land. The vineyards cover 53 hectares of vineyards in the region Ribatejo 95% of which are planted with the red varieties Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira Preta, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot. The yield is limited to 45 hl / ha.
