The winery with 30 hectares of vineyards is located in the municipality of Léognan amidst a clearing in the community appellation Pessac-Léognan
in the area Graves
, The otherwise in Bordeaux
usual term Château was deliberately avoided. The owner Olivier Bernard founded together with neighboring estates like Château de Fieuzal
the Community "Les Grands Blanc de Bordeaux" to promote "large Bordeaux white wines". Both white wine and red wine are classified as Cru Classé. The decades-old red wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Franc (5%) and aged for 24 months in 100% new oak barrels. The second red wine is called Esprit de Chevalier. The decades-old white wine is blended from Sauvignon Blanc (70%) and Semillon (30%) and matured for up to 18 months in 25% new oak barrels.
