2004 Chateauneuf-du-Pape AOC Renaissance, Rhône, France

Ripe sour cherry nose, firm and concentrated, red and black berries, notes of dried herbs and flowers, meaty notes and some licorice. Full-bodied and juicy, very concentrated, very ripe tannins with good presence, firm structure, deep and very persistent, still very young, very creamy, dark chocolate, intense gingerbread spice, a real blockbuster, long concentrated finish. Will probably still improve with time.
